The two factors that shaped Indian politics towards the late 1920s were:

• The first and foremost factor was the worldwide economic depression. Prices of the agricultural products increased due to which exports decreased. Peasants were the most affected by this.


• Under Sir John Simon, the commission was framed to check the functioning of the constitutional system and bring changes to it. The problem was that it didn’t have one single Indian member. In 1928, when Simon commission arrived in India, he was welcomed with the slogan “Go back, Simon”.


There were also various reasons that shaped Indian politics.
