Three numbers are in the ratio 2:3:4. The sum of their cube is 33957. Find the largest number?

Let the common ratio be x.

According to the given condition they are in ratio 2x : 3 x: 4x


Also given,


(2x)3 + (3x)3 + (4x)3 = 33957


⇒ 8 x3 + 27 x3 + 64 x3 = 33957


⇒ 99 x3 = 33957



⇒ x3 = 343



⇒ x = 7


The numbers are


2 x = 2 × 7 = 14


3 x = 3 × 7 = 21


4 x = 4 × 7 = 28
