In an A.P., the first term is 12 and the common difference is 6. If the last term of the A.P. is 252, find its middle term. (CBSE 2012)

We have, a=12, d=6 and l =252

an = 252

⇒ l = a + (n - 1 ) d


⇒ 252 = 12 + (n - 1 ) 6

⇒ 240 = (n - 1) 6

⇒ n - 1 = 40

⇒ n = 41
