It is believed that a strengthened and revitalised UN is desirable in the changing world. Highlight the necessary reforms for its strengthening.

Reforms for the strengthening of the UN:

i. Reforms in organizational structure and processes.

ii. Review of the issues that fall within the jurisdiction of the organization.

iii. Major concerns have been the composition of the Security Council which has remained largely static while the UN General Assembly membership has expanded.

iv. Increase in the number of both the permanent and non-permanent members in UNSC.

v. Security Council should have more developing countries like Asia, Africa and South America.

vi. Proposal to improve UN’S budgetary procedures and its administration.

vii. Others want it to play a humanitarian role.
