What is Veto Power? Which member nations of the U.N. Security Council enjoy this special power and why?

In security council when any decision is taken, the nonpermanent and permanent members vote. But the permanent members have got veto power. With the use of veto power, any permanent member can stall the decision.

United Nations is an international organization and has several agencies that work in a specific direction. The issues related to war, differences between nations are discussed and resolved in the General assembly and Security Council.


The Security Council has five permanent members( US, China, Russia, France, and UK. These members have got veto power.) and ten nonpermanent members.
