Q19 of 84 Page 322

Why does a ray of light bend from its path when it travels from one medium to other?

Bending of the light ray as it travels from one medium to another is due to the refraction of light. Refraction takes place because there is change in velocity as the light travels from one medium to another. Also the light always takes the shortest path between the two given points, due to this property the light gets bend.
