Simplify each of the following and express it in the form a + ib :


Given:

We re – write the above equation



[∵, i2 = -1]



Now, we know that,


(a + b)(a – b) = (a2 – b2)


Here, a = 5 and b = i√3


= (5)2 – (i√3)2


= 25 – (3i2)


= 25 – [3 × (-1)]


= 25 + 3


= 28 + 0


= 28 + 0i
