Write the meaning of ‘Tourism’.

Tourism can be defined as the activity of travel which is undertaken for the purpose of recreation and not business. Tourism industry has formed the world’s largest tertiary activity with maximum number of jobs registered (250 million) and total revenue from this sector forms 40% of the total GDP. It also gives local people an opportunity to engage in providing services like accommodation, meals, transport, entertainment and special shops serving tourists. It is a means to boost the development of infrastructure, retail trading and craft industries. Some regions have seasonal tourism because of climatic factors but most places attract tourists all year round.
