Describe any five features of ‘plantation agriculture’ practised in the world.

The Europeans introduced plantation agriculture in colonies situated in the tropics. Plantation crops include tea, coffee, cocoa, rubber, cotton, oil palm, sugarcane, bananas and pineapples. The features of plantation agriculture practised in the world are that this type of farming is carried out in large estates or plantations, it requires large capital investment, managerial and technical support, scientific methods of cultivation, single crop specialisation, cheap labour and a good system of transport linking factories and markets for exporting products.
