Q15 of 94 Page 222

A pit 5 m long and 3.5 m wide is dug to a certain depth. If the volume of earth taken out of it is 14 m3, what is the depth of the pit?

We know that,

Volume of cuboid = Length × Breadth × Height

Let the depth of the pit be x m

Therefore,

Volume = 5 × 3.5 × x

It is given in the question that,

Volume = 14 m3

Therefore,

Depth, x =

x =

= 0.8 m

= 80 cm
