Q6 of 94 Page 231

The curved surface area of a cylindrical pillar is 264 m2 and its volume is 924 m3. Find the diameter and height of the pillar.

We know that,

Curved surface area of cylinder = 2rh

264 = 2

r =

r = m

We also know that,

Volume of cylinder = r2h

= × × × h

= 924 m3

Now,

r =

= = 7 m

Therefore,

Diameter of the pillar, d = 7 × 2 = 14 m
