Name the parts A, Band C shown in the following diagram and state one. Function of each.


The following parts of the flower are shown below:


 


Part (A) is Anther.


Function: It makes the pollen grains and stores them. These pollen grains contain the male gametes of the plant.


Part (B) is Filament.


Function: The filament is a stalk-like structure that is attached to the base of the flower. On its top, is attached the "anther" which is the structure that produces pollen.


Part (C) is Ovary


Function: The swollen part at the bottom of carpel is called ovary. It makes ovules and stores them. Ovules are the female gametes of plants.

(b) When the F1 generation plants were self-fertilized, he observed that in the plants of second generation, F2, both tall plants and dwarf plants were present. Why it happened? Explain briefly.
