(a) Ultrafiltration


Ultrafiltration occurs at the barrier between blood and the filtrate in the glomerular capsule. The main function of the glomerulus is to filter plasma to produce the glomerular filtrate.


(b) Selective reabsorption


The process of selective reabsorption involves certain molecules being filtered out of the capillaries along with nitrogenous waste products and also, simultaneously, water in the glomerulus, is reabsorbed from the filtrate as it passes through the nephron. (Henle’s loop).


(c) The function of the ureter is to collect urine and transfer it to the urinary bladder.


(d) The renal artery carries impure blood for filtration.


(e) Urethra is the structure through which waste is excreted in the form of urine.
