Q21 of 52 Page 1

A box contains 70 cards numbered from 1 to 70. If one card is drawn at random from the box, find the probability that it bears

(i) a perfect square number

(ii) a number divisible by 2 and 3

(i) Perfect squares upto 70 are 12, 22, 32, ….. 82 = 8

Probability of getting a perfect square = 8/70 = 4/35

(ii) Numbers divisible by 2 and 3 are: 6, 12, 18, ……….. 66

So the total numbers are 11

Probability of getting a number divisible by 2 and 3 = 11/70
