P(a, b) is the midpoint of a line segment between axes. Show that equation of the line is = 2.


Let A be (c, 0) and B be (0, d)

Mid-point of AB is

Therefore, =a ⇒ c = 2a

and = b ⇒ d = 2b

New equation of AB in intercept form is

= 1

or = 1

= 2
