The Buddha said, “The world is afflicted with death and decay, therefore the wise do not grieve, knowing the terms of the world.” Do you think the statement is appropriate even for today’s life? Write your views in the context of the above statement.

Yes, the statement is appropriate even for today’s life. According to Buddha, death is inevitable. Everyone must die and that’s the way of life. Those who fail to understand this cannot accept death when it comes to their loved ones. In the story “The Sermon at Benares”, a mother is unable to accept her son’s death and thus goes in search for a way to bring him back to life. Buddha, with his wisdom, finds a way to teach her this important truth of life.
