A solid right circular cylinder has radius of 14 cm and height of 8 cm. Find its curved surface area and total surface area.

Given : radius of cylinder = r = 14 cm

height of cylinder = h = 8 cm


To find : Curved surface area = CSA of cylinder = ?


Total surface area = TSA of cylinder = ?


Formula : CSA of cylinder = 2πrh


TSA of cylinder = 2πr (h + r)


Solution : CSA of cylinder = 2rh = 2 × × 14 × 8


= 44 × 16 = 704 cm2


TSA of cylinder = 2r (h + r) = 2 × × 14 (8 + 14)


= 88 × 22 = 1936 cm2


The curved surface area and the total surface area of the right circular cylinder is 704 cm2 and 1936 cm2 respectively.
