A body of mass 1kg is kept at rest. A constant force of 6N starts acting on it. Find the time taken by the body to move through a distance of 12m?


Force = Mass × Acceleration


6N = 1kg × a


6m/s2 = a


Using Second equation of motion


s = ut + 1/2at2


12 = 0(t) + 1/2* (6)* t2


12 = 3t2


4 = t2


t = √4


= +2 or –2 ; as time can’t be negative so, positive value of time is taken.


2s = t


Therefore, time taken is 2s.
