The sparks produced during sharpening of a knife against a grinding wheel leaves the rim of the wheel tangentially. Can it be attributed to inertia? Explain.

Yes, this can be attributed to inertia, when sharpening is done tiny pieces move in tangent direction due to there linear velocity in such direction. But due to gravity and high speed we see only sparks and not the pieces.
