Q9 of 35 Page 143

A car of mass 2kg is at rest. What should be the magnitude of force which will make the body move with a speed of 30m/s at the end of 1s?

Using the First equation of motion

v = u + at

30m/s = 0 + a(1s)

a = 30m/s2

Force = Mass × Acceleration

= 2kg × 30m/s2

= 60N

A body of mass 1kg is kept at rest. A constant force of 6N starts acting on it. Find the time taken by the body to move through a distance of 12m?

A constant force acts on an object of mass 5kg for a duration of 2s. It increases the object velocity from 3m/s to 7m/s. Find the magnitude of the force applied. Now if the force were applied for a duration of 5s, what would be the final velocity of the object?

A gun of mass 3 kg fires a bullet of mass 30 g. The bullet takes 0.003 seconds to move through the barrel of the gun and acquires a velocity of 100 m/s.

Calculate a) the velocity at which the gun recoils

b) the force exerted on the gunman due to the recoil of the gun.
