Explain any three major problems faced by road transport in India.

Roadways are commonly used means of transport in India.


The following are the major problems faced by road transport.


a. Road transport in cities are congested and hence there are frequent traffic jams.


b. There is a large volume of traffic and passengers for which the road network is inadequate.


c. In monsoon seasons, most of the roads are unusable as they are unmetalled.


Hence, railways and pipelines are preferred over roadways.
