Iron and steel industries are concentrated in the Chottanagpur Plateau Region. The following are the factors that are responsible for it.


a. Iron ore is available in plenty and at low cost.


b. The abundance of high-grade raw material


c. This region has a good network of transport facilities.


d. Cheap labour is available in abundance.


e. The proximity of markets.


f. Availability of other resources like water.


Thus, the Chhotanagpur plateau region has become the centre of Iron and steel industries in India.
