Why are some called the ‘noble insects’?

Some insects, according to the author, are called ‘noble’ because they do not cause any harm until they are harmed. In simpler words, they do not sting and bite until and unless they are touched or are show violence upon. Besides, they do not discriminate among humans and might bit an innocent individual resting in his garden, while some completely different person might have tried to shoo them away. Examples of such ‘noble insects’ are bees and wasps.
