What is PIL? Explain its importance.

The Constitution of India has guaranteed any citizen to seek the help of the court in case of violation of fundamental rights of social and public interest. It is called Public Interest Litigation (PIL).

Any individual or group of persons can approach the Supreme court or the High court for the violation of rights under PIL. Even they can write on a post card and seek justice. The court can take up the case only if it is of public interest.
