What are the factors responsible for the changes in cropping area?

The size of cropping area depends on various factors. The total cropping area in Tamil Nadu is 4544 hectares. If there is sufficient amount of rainfall at proper period of time then the area of cultivable land will increase whereas if there is insufficient or shortage of rainfall then this area will reduce. There are cropping areas which may be cultivated even twice a year depending upon the extent of rainfall. All the cropping area majorly depends upon the water source.
