Small farmers:


Small farmers are the ones that cultivate on small pieces of land which is less than 1 hectare.


They cultivate 26% whereas they cover 14% of the land.


They cultivate majorly for the purpose of self consumption.


Marginal farmers:


Marginal farmers have a big piece of land but they carry out cultivation only for the purpose of sale.


The no. of marginal farmers has decreased in Tamil Nadu but increasing in India.


They cultivate majorly for sale of the produce.
