Explain S.L. Miller’s contribution towards the concept of origin of life.

S.L. Miller with his experiment showed that chemical evolution took place before organic evolution, i.e. first non-living inorganic molecules were formed which later formed organic evolution.

He, in his experiment formed similar conditions that the Earth was thought to have at the time of origin. He used electric discharge, used NH3, CH4, H2 to give reducing nature to the environment and also used water vapours at 800 degree Celsius.

In his experiment as a result he observed the formation of amino acids, which thereby proved the theory of Chemical evolution.
