Define the following terms :

(i) Molar conductivity

(ii) Secondary batteries

(i) Molar conductivity is defined mathematically as the the conductivity of an electrolytic solution divided by the molar concentration of the electrolyte. It is denoted as ^m.

It can also be defined as the conducting power of all the ions produced by dissolving one mole of an electrolyte in solution.

So, where κ is conductivity and C is the molar concentration of electrolyte.

If C is in molarity, then ^m is expressed as:

(ii) Secondary batteries are rechargeable batteries or storage batteries. These types of batteries can be charged, discharged and recharged as many times unlike the primary batteries which are of use and throw type.

Eg. Lead-acid battery, Nickel-Cadmium battery, etc.

Lead-Acid battery.
