Q8 of 97 Page 780

A 36-m-long, 15-m-broad verandah is to be paved with stones, each measuring 6 dm by 5 dm. How many stones will be required?

Given: Length of verandah = 36 m

Breadth of verandah = 15 m

Length of stones = 6 dm = 0.6 m

Breadth of stones = 5 dm = 0.5 m

We know that,

Area of verandah = Length × Breadth

= 36 m × 15 m

= 540 m2

And,

Area of stones = Length × Breadth

= 0.6 m × 0.5 m

= 0.3 m2

Now,

= 1800 stones
