The area of a parallelogram is 392 m2. If its altitude is twice the corresponding base, determine the base and the altitude.

Given:


Area = 392 m2


Base = b (let)


Height = 2b



Now,


Area of parallelogram = Base × Height


⇒ 392 = b × 2b


⇒ 392 = 2b2


⇒ b2 = 196


⇒ b = 14 cm


Hence,


Base = 14 cm


Altitude = 2 × 14 = 28 cm
