Q4 of 97 Page 790

The parallel sides of a trapezium are 9.7 cm and 6.3 cm, and the distance between them is 6.5 cm. The area of the trapezium is

Given:

Side 1 = 9.7 cm

Side 2 = 6.3 cm

Distance between sides = 6.5 cm

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × sum of parallel sides × distance between them

= 1/2 × (9.7 + 6.3) × 6.5

= 1/2 × 16 × 6.5

= 52 cm2
