How did the poet feel after throwing a log at the snake?

The poet was filled with guilt. He considered his act as cruel and inhuman. It was his inner voice that compelled him to act cruelly. The poet was of the opinion, that the snake would hiss its way towards him and bite him. In reality, the snake did not harm the poet. He repented his action and wished that the snake came back to life.
