Give a brief character sketch of Helen’s father.

Helen’s father, Arthur H Keller, was a captain in the Confederate Army. He was a thorough gentleman and devoted to his family. He remarried Kate, who was much younger to Helen’s father. Kate went on to become Helen’s mother. Arthur H Keller had a huge impact on Helen’s developments and growing up years. He tirelessly looked for methods and people to help Helen. Arthur H Keller did his best to provide a meaningful life to Helen in spite of her disability. Helen’s parents and particularly her father were very affectionate towards Helen. They never accepted Helen as a burden but did everything in their capacity to make her happy, educated and cheerful. Helen’s father was a nature lover. Arthur H Keller loved his garden. He raised watermelons and strawberries. He was an accomplished hunter and a gracious host to guests and visitors. He breathed his last after a short illness in 1896.
