Q18 of 34 Page 1

In given figure, PS is the diameter of a circle of radius 6 cm. The points Q and R trisects the diameter PS. Semi circles are drawn on PQ and QS as diameters. Find the area of the shaded region.

As PS is a diameter of circle with radius 6 cm

PS = 2(6) = 12 cm [As diameter = 2Radius]

Also, As Q and R trisects PS

PQ = QR = RS = 4 cm

πsemicircle as diameter PQ - Area of semicircle as diameter QS [1]

Radius of semicircle as diameter PS, r1 = 6 cm [given]

Radius of semicircle as diameter PQ, r2

Radius of semicircle as diameter QS, r3 = QR = QS = 4 cm

Also, area of semicircle with radius 'r'

Using formula in [1]
