The Green Revolution was a set of technological reforms introduced by the government in order to improve agricultural production.

Green revolution aimed at increasing agricultural production. However, there are some demerits of Green revolution.

1. The fertility of the soil has become poor due to the implementation of modern techniques.

2. The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has resulted in the loss of soil fertility.

3. Expected higher yields demanded HYV seeds, plenty of water for irrigation etc.,

4. Modern methods of irrigation like tube well have reduced the groundwater level.

Effective utilisation of land and water has been greatly affected by the green revolution.
