A pipe can fill 4 water tanks in 2 h 20 min. How long will it take to fill 7 such tanks using the same pipe?

Given:


A pipe fills 4 water tanks in 2hr 20 min.


Convert 2h 20 mins into mins


2h 20 mins = 140 mins


∴ The time needed to fill 1 tank:


4 tanks = 140 mins


1 tank = 140 ÷ 4 = 35 mins


∴ The time needed to fill 7 such tanks:


1 tank = 35 mins


7 tanks = 35 x 7 = 245 mins


Convert mins to hour and mins


245 mins = 4 hours 5 mins


∴ It will take 4 hours 5 mins to fill up 7 such tanks.
