Sprilina microbes are blue-green bacterium and are rich in protein, minerals, vitamins, fats and carbohydrates. So, Spirulina microbes are produced on a commercial scale to obtain good protein i.e., for production of single cell protein.


Advantages of Spirulina microbes:


(i) It can easily grow in ponds and just need carbon dioxide and inorganic ions.


(ii) Its production is independent of seasonal as well as climatic variations.


(iii) They have high rate of multiplication Dried Spirulina has high nutrient value and can be fed to animals.
