Yes apomixes can be compared with asexual reproduction, due to the following few reasons:

(i) In apomixes, the seeds produced are clones of mothers seed, similar to asexual reproduction where plants which genetically identical to parents are produced.

(ii) In apomixes, seeds are produced without pollination or fertilization, similar to asexual reproduction.

Apomixis is beneficial to the farmer as:

(i) They help in reduction of cost of hybrid production.

(ii) The farmers can produce new varieties of seeds more quickly.

(iii) The resulting plants reach maturity faster.
