a) the East India Company acquired the Diwani Rights in 1765. They


got this right after defeating the combined forces of Nawab of Awadh Shuja-ud- Duala, Mir Qasim and Mughal emperor Shah Alam II in the Battle of Plassey.


b) the Gurkhas were conquered by the British in 1816. The war ended with Treaty of Sugauli by which some of the Nepalese territories came under the British rule.


c) The slavery was abolished in 1843. According to the Indian Slavery Act 1843 also known as Act V of 1843 the slavery was finally abolished in India.


d) Burma became a part of India in 1886. Since then it remained a part of India till 1937, after that it was separated from India and it became a separate country after that.
