Attempt an account of the cultural relations between India and Southeast Asia.

The cultural relation between India and Southeast Asia can be seen in many ways. For instance, the Buddhism which is being followed by the countries of Southeast Asia has its inception in the Indian soil. We can also see the close relation of languages and their script. Likewise, the kingship, dresses, traditional dances and other customs have many similarities in nature. Through the maritime trade and exchange of culture and ideas the Southeast Asian countries can trace the similarities in their past with India. The similarities can also be seen in the daily lives as the family system, the eating style and other aspects. The worshipping style also finds similarity in the nature as the Southeast Asian people also bow down and pay reverence to the gods as the Indians do.

The architecture of temples and past monuments also show a sense of similarities in these countries. So, we can say that the Southeast Asian countries and India share numerous cultural similarities and that’s because of the communication that ancient and medieval empire established between these countries.
