a) The British possessions in South Africa were Natal and Cape Colony. Later, after the discovery of gold in Transvaal the British started settle in and around Johannesburg.

b) The territories held by Dutch were Transvaal and Orange Free State. Locally the Dutch were known as Boers.

c) Cecil Rhodes was the Prime Minister of Cape colony in 1890. Rhodesia, one of the South African colony was named after him.

d) Boer Wars lasted for three years i.e. from 1899 to 1902. The Boer war was fought between Britain and the Boers who were the native of Transvaal and Orange Free State.
