Answer in detail
Explain the process of colonisation in Africa.
The colonization in Africa began after 1875 when the European countries started this otherwise unknown continent. The Europeans faced no difficulty in colonizing the land of Africa as they faced no resistance form the natives. The colonization process took place between 1881 and 1914.
Territories like Natal and Cape colony came under the possession of Britain, where as Transvaal and Orange Free State came under the possession the Dutch. Furthermore, the discovery of gold led the British colonizers to settle around Johannesburg.
Other European countries also came later in order to try their luck in the resource rich country of Africa. For instance, Senegal in West Africa became a base for French colony. The king of Belgium showed interest in possessing Congo. In East Africa, the possessions of Sultan of Zanzibar were divided in the British and Germans. Portuguese set their eyes on the west coast i.e. Angola and Mozambique.
Most part of Africa was colonized by various European countries and they exploited the resources and people of Africa to a great level.
