Prepare an album with pictures and images of famines that affected different parts of India during the British colonial rule.

Pictures and images of Famines-

1. The Great Bengal Famine of 1770. The affected areas were Bihar Northern and Central Bengal. The picture shows the plight of masses who faced the grim situation at this time.

2. Bihar Famine of 1873- Relief efforts were organized by sir Richard Temple, the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal. The image shows a woman lamenting the death her two babies who died of starvation.

3. Orissa Famine of 1866- the impact of famine spread from Orissa to Madras killing 1/3^rd population of Orissa. The image is of the time when people turned into bones due to the grim starvation.

4. The Great Famine of 1869- the affected areas were Madras, Bombay Deccan, Bengal, United Provinces, Central Provinces. The above image shows people wandering on the roads due to their worse situation at the time of famine.

5. Great Famine of 1876- It was also known as Madras Famine which affected the Southern and South-Western Indian states. The image shows people suffering from extreme starvation.

6. Indian Famine 1899-1900- the affected areas were Bombay, Central Provinces, Berar, Ajmer. The above image shows the male members of a village suffering the wrath of famine.

7. Bengal Famine of 1943- 1.5 million people in Bengal died due to starvation. The image above shows that not only humans but cattle’s and animals also suffered an extreme situation during the time of famine.
