The reaction is a nucleophilic substitution reaction which involves mechanism. The mechanism is as follows:

i) A leaving group is created by the act of protonation of hydroxyl group.


ii) Water molecule is replaced by the bromide ion to form the alkyl bromide by the displacement reaction.
