Subject: Rescue provided by the Scouts and Guides to the victims affected by the spreading of fire.

The last night had witnessed the utter callousness of people whose carelessness brought about a massive fire in the J.J Colony, Vikaspuri, leaving behind several people homeless. The people had been ruined by the explosion and are still without any fixed shelter to survive. The colony had also experienced the timely aid provided by the Scouts and Guides of my school Vikas Sr. Sec. School, Rohini, Delhi, who relocated the victims with proper physical requirements.

We had waited long for the fire extinguishers to arrive with their support but with failed hopes. Immediately, I reported the Scouts and Guides team of my school who collected shortly in the place with their entire squad. Together, we surrounded the building and opened the gush of water on the building. Within half an hour, the fire had subsided. On further examination and introspection, it had been discovered that the owner of the flat no. B 12 had left for Varanasi without switching off the iron. The overheating had lead to the short circuiting and finally given rise to electric fire. On contacting the owner he had apologized and said, “I didn’t realize that. I was so busy that I forgot to put it off.”

But the Scouts and Guides of my school had done a commendable job by coming forward to our rescue. First aids were provided to the victims along with reallocation of around fifty seven people of the apartment. The municipality had been requested to send for proper finance for these people. A victim of the apartment had said, “They have acted like real Scouts and Guides people. Hats off.” The members of the Scouts and Guides had been under considerable pressure as it was their first practical attempt in the actual, external space. A member of the Guides came up to me and had said, “We are grateful to you Ma’am for relying on us with this huge responsibility.” Being the head of the Scouts and Guides of our school, I was deeply proud with their timely act and excellent presence of mind in coping with the accident.
