If Matilda had confessed to his friend that she had lost the necklace, then perhaps, she wouldn’t have to face such deep trouble. Perhaps, she would have in a safe situation than that of replacing the necklace and recollecting money to buy the same necklace. On knowing the truth, her friend might have been angry but then Matilda and her husband would have got to know the proper address and details of the product from where it was bought. They would have also got t know that the necklace wasn’t made of real diamonds ahich would have definitely saved him from the surplus expenses. Matilda then would have been able to save her husband and her friend from the entire trouble which was unnecessary.
