Given: x × (x + 3) = 7


Opening brackets


⇒ x2 + 3x = 7


⇒ x2 + 3x – 7 = 0


Thus we have represented the given equation in standard form ax2 + bx + c = 0 where a = 1, b = 3 and c = -7
