Q2 of 23 Page 1

Attempt of the following sub questions:

In the following experiment write the sample space S, Number of sample points n(S), write the event P in set form and find n(P):
Form two digit number using the digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, without repeating the digits, P is the event, that the number so formed is even.

We have to form 2 digit numbers using 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 which means the 0 won’t come in the tens place

Also a digit is not repeated therefore the sample space becomes

S = {10, 12, 13, 14, 20, 21, 23, 24, 30, 31, 32, 34, 40, 41, 42, 43}

n(S) means number of elements in S

n(S) = 16

Now P is a event such that the number formed is even

Therefore P = {10, 12, 14, 20, 24, 30, 32, 34, 40, 42}

n(P) = 10
