The length breadth and height of the room 5m, 4m, and 3m respectively. Find the cost of washing the inner of the room and ceiling at the rate of Rs. 50 per square metre.

Given,

length (l) = 5 m


breadth (b) = 4 m


height (h) = 3 m


Total area of walls = 2(bh) + 2(lh)


= 2h (l+b)


= 2 × 3 (4 + 5)


= 54 m2


Area of ceiling = lb


= 5 × 4


= 20 m2


total area to be washed = area of ceiling + Total area of walls


= 20m2 + 54m2


= 74 m2


cost of white washing = Rs 50 per m2


⇒ total cost of washing = 50 × 74


= 3700


So, the total cost of washing the walls and ceiling of the room is Rs. 3700
