The traditional notion of security includes both internal and external threats to the country. Internal threats include maintenance of internal peace and order. External threat include military attack, war, etc

The four important components of the traditional notion of security are :

Nationals security which requires the protection of people from any external threat or from outside the country

The response of government on attacks such as deterrence (security policy to limit the war), defence to protect our own country, and the cost of war.

A balance of power in terms of technology, economy and military. The best way to maintain the balance of power is to build up ones’ military.

Alliance of states or coalition of states, in case a country attacks any one country among the coalition.
